Track Session
A reminder that the next track training session is this Saturday 19th July at 11:00am at the Mountbatten Centre, led by myself and Pete Harding.
The session will be a 6x800m session at your 3k race pace. I’ll explain what I mean by that on the day.
For those of you who haven't tried these sessions yet, they are intended for everyone, not just those who intend to do track races. They are designed to give you a good workout and help you with your race and training paces, hopefully allowing you to get more from the Thursday sessions.
There is a fee for use of the track: £1.90 each, payable at the desk.
It would help my preparation if you could email me to let me know you are coming.
Thanks

The Test Way Relay is on Saturday 30th August. Once again Victory AC has been invited to compete. This mixed terrain relay organised by Hardley Runners runs from Inkpen Beacon to Totton Nr Southampton roughly following the River Test.
Each team comprises 9 runners. Each runner runs ONE leg of between 6 and 10km. The race starts at 10:30 (or 11:30 men) and you may wish to RV with the team at the beginning of your leg during the day or follow the entire race in shared cars.
If you would like to run for Victory please let Marilyn or myself know. You will need to reconnoitre your legs or study a map carefully to stay on route - getting lost is not an option! We will allocate legs by 31st July latest, so get your name down now to secure your preferred leg.

Results and Reports
From Carol Tolfrey -
It was about six months ago that Lesley said to me you will have to do the ladies only tri at Eton so she entered me along with herself to do it.
So I went out and bought a wet suit joined Portsmouth tri club and started preparing for it ,but nothing could of prepared me for how nervous I felt as the day got closer .
We were both in the 45+ age group so that was good going in together .Lesley was really great and showed me where I had to go out on the bike and so on .
Just before the hooter went off she gave me a hug and nearly drowned me ,then she said a prayer for me as I was so nervous and we were off ,I have to say I didn't really enjoy the swim although ive been having front crawl lessons for awhile I have not completely mastered it yet ,but I did a combination of front crawl and breast stroke and got there.
Its a great feeling when you come out of the lake and know you have done that part mind you I still had to get out of my wetsuit which I had been dreading but thankfully that came off really quick .
Got to my bike shoes on helmet and I was off Lesley was long gone but I really enjoyed the bike section it was four laps and with each lap I got more confident ( on my super fast new racing bike ) and when the last lap came around I almost wished I had more to go .
Racked my bike and I,m off on the run the best bit felt a bit jelly legs at first but soon got into it .
My last tri in May I did in just under 2hrs so I had thought anything under that and I will be happy so when I finished and looked at my watch I was elated I had done it in 1hr 40 mins ,so 20 mins quicker Lesley did it in 1hr 32 mins so we were both happy .
Neil and Dawn were there supporting us and they were really great .When we finished Lesley said same time next year and I said no way but by Sunday I was saying to her yes okay .They really do give you a buzz.
Thanks for all your texts wishing me good luck and telling me I would be fine .Carol T

ORIENTAL MEAL - James Tolson
Every cloud has a silver lining and the postponement of the Long Handicap provides us with another opportunity to enjoy an oriental meal in good company. Last week's Chinese meal went ahead as planned despite there being no race but, as we usually go out after the LH, there will be an Indian meal at the Dippak Tandoori in Market Parade after next Thursday's (17/7) Long Handicap. See you there.

From Shelly Butler
Calling all ladies who fancy a trip to see the film Mamma Mia. We are planning a trip to see it on Wednesday 30th July at either Gunwharf or Port Solent.
Interested? Let either Gill J. or myself know and we'll do the rest.
Reminder
JULY 26TH QUEEN ELIZABETH COUNTRY PARK BBQ, near Petersfield.
The bbq site has been paid for, so there will be a small charge of £2.50 pp.

bbq meat, picnic and drink, and a rubbish bag. If you have any outdoor games
feel free to bring them along. Also if you have any out door chairs to sit on,
there are picnic tables as well, but not many.
